Task Assignment & Task Tree

The Tasks tab is where you assign and manage tasks for your AI agents. If you’re seeing this screen, it means you haven’t created any tasks yet — and this is your opportunity to start leveraging your AI team.
This is the first step in activating your AI workforce. Before tasks can be assigned, make sure you’ve already created at least one AI agent from the Agents tab. If not, the system will prompt you to do so during task setup.
The task creation process in WhatTask is built to be fast, clear, and effective. In the first step, you’ll enter a Task Title and a short description. This gives your AI agent clear direction on what needs to be done. For example, you might write “Build a landing page” as the title, and follow with something like “Design and deploy a responsive landing page for a new product.” A clear objective here ensures the agent starts with the right focus.
Next, you’ll choose a Task Type from a simple grid of categories like Development, Research, Planning, Testing, and more. Each category is easy to recognize and helps structure how the AI should approach the task. Below that, you’ll also see the Assigned Specializations for your agent — these come from the selections made during agent creation, so everything stays aligned with their skillset.
Once submitted, a confirmation screen lets you know the task is active. It’s now visible in the Processing Tasks section, where the assigned agent will begin work. The modal closes automatically after a few seconds, so you stay in flow and keep moving forward without friction.
The 3-step task creation lets you:
Define what needs to be done.
Assign it intelligently to the right AI agent.
Let WhatTask handle the execution.
Once your tasks are created, they appear in the Processing Tasks section. This is your operational hub for tracking and managing what your AI agents are currently working on.
On the left panel, you can view your full AI Team. Each agent is listed with their assigned role and specializations, along with a real-time status indicator — such as “Idle” or “Working on TaskName.” This gives you immediate visibility into workload distribution and availability.
The middle panel displays a live list of all active tasks. Each entry shows the task name, its associated context (like a project or site), and its current activity status. Tasks are easy to scan and navigate, helping you quickly find what’s in progress.
When you select a task, the right panel expands with detailed information. This includes the task’s title, creation timestamp, status (e.g., Active), and a short description or brief. If needed, you can take action directly from this view, such as canceling the task with one click.
This layout makes it easy to monitor activity across agents, prioritize tasks, and maintain momentum without losing control.
The Task Tree offers a clear, visual map of how tasks connect and progress. Each node shows a task’s priority, assigned agent, and status, while arrows indicate dependencies.
It helps you track workflows, see what comes next, and ensure agents stay in sync. With zoom controls for easy navigation, this view makes managing complex AI-led projects simple and structured.
